EDISON CROSS COUNTRY TEAM RULES AND PROCEDURES

Attendance

Absences are defined as: missing practice or failing to complete a workout for any reason other than injury. Failure to notify a coach in advance of a pending absence is also unacceptable if a coach has not excused the absence beforehand. Any absence may result in missing a meet. If an athlete fails to complete a practice or exhibits unacceptable behavior, suspension from the next meet may result, even without any previous offenses.

I. Athletes must notify Reed via text or email if they will be late to practice and bring a legible pass from an Edison staff member for being tardy. Excessive tardiness may be questioned and parents notified.

II. Athletes should not miss practice due to an injury unless excused by coach. The athlete should report to Edison’s athletic trainers before practice for treatment/rehab and report to a coach afterwards.

III. Athletes should not miss practice or meets for another club or activity unless excused.

Athlete Conduct

All athletes are expected to represent the Edison Cross Country Program, Edison High School and their families in a respectable and professional manner.

I. No cursing, foul or inappropriate language allowed. Repeated violations will result in parent notification.

II. Respect yourself, teammates and coaches. Follow the golden rule and treat others as you would expect to be treated.

III. Alcohol, drug and tobacco use are strictly prohibited and violation will result in suspension from the team.

Team Rules

I. Use of third party coaching services is prohibited. All team members are expected to participate in team practices, workouts
and meets as directed by Edison Cross Country coaching staff.

II. Athletes are expected to focus on competing or cheering on teammates while at meets.

III. All athletes are to ride on school buses to and from meets unless arrangements have been made with the coach..

IV. All athletes should have watches for practice, proper running shoes and be dressed in Edison Cross Country attire at meets.
